A total of around 230 jobs are to be cut from Dell's Limerick and Cherrywood operations in Ireland.
While the company is not giving our exact figures for the cuts, sources have confirmed to RTÉ that 10% of staff are to be lost in both locations.
The company is seeking to save $4 billion globally by 2011 and is blaming weakening demand for the cuts.
In Limerick the non-manufacturing sector, including research and development, is to be affected with 100 jobs being lost.
Cherrywood in south Dublin provides sales services to Ireland and the UK and technical support to the Europe, Middle East and Africa. 130 jobs are to go there.
There will be a 30-day consultation process with staff before cuts are made over following six months. 1,900 jobs were lost in Limerick in January while 250 were cut from Cherrywood between July 2008 and January.

我很感謝第一份正式工作時的鄰座同事，她比較資深又成家有小孩了，說起話來比剛入社會有稜有角的我成熟許多，有一句話我記到現在：妳要想五年後這份工作會不會被取代？
或許是這句話的影響，當初有違世俗規範放棄正職去德國做實習生（為此姨爹還說不認同我如此不負責任一直抱持學生心態云云）時沒太多掙扎、要放棄錢多事少的德國工作去念MBA時也絲毫不覺得可惜，因為我不停在想--五年後，甚至兩年，我在做的工作能不能被別人或機器/軟體取代？我會不會輕易被取代？答案很清楚，所以我願意冒險轉變。
這次又逃過一劫，被砍的的確是能被取代或因應目前市場需要可取捨的工作，但我清楚我只是幸運而已，至少到目前為止....幸運的在德國工作不到一年半就能存下三萬八歐的MBA學費、幸運的在2007年經濟還好的時候畢業謀職、幸運的進了歐洲而非區域/單國團隊。
愛爾蘭在歐洲大陸停滯不前的時候飛快的成長，這次的景氣打擊自然跌得最重，想也知道相對其他歐洲據點成本較高的公司處境不易，劫後餘生的感覺其實比較像又多了幾個月的觀察期而已。
